Bodysnatchers.
Yesterday I went to the mall to return something and so I went to Ross and got this yellow shirt! I have a thing for yellow. This is a lovely shade of mustard. Disregard whatever my hair is doing. This morning I woke up to my alarm at 8:20, then dozed off for a couple minutes. When I woke up again it was still 8:20 and I was suspicious. I looked at my phone and it was actually 8:50, which is 5 minutes before I had to leave for class. I couldn't even skip or be late because I had a test. So my hair went unattended today. I need to cut it, seriously. Blah.

So then, I came back after class to continue getting ready for the day and when I looked at the clock next it was 10:25... the time my second class starts. I think clocks were playing jokes on me today. Anyway, when I was sitting at the stop light waiting to cross the street on the way back from school today I saw a Cadillac Seville and I started thinking about how Cadillac doesn't make the Seville or Deville or Eldorado anymore. All the names of their cars are like X5000 or something like that. Is that what we consider to be a "luxury" name? I think that the original names really conveyed beauty, high class, and luxury. Have we lost so much language that we can't even describe our cars with names anymore, they have to be numbers? I am reading Madeline L'Engle's Walking on Water, which is a collection of essays about God and art. She was saying something about how after times of war we lose some of our language. If we read books written now we can completely understand them, but books from even 60 years ago contain words that we have to look up because we have fallen out of using them. I think it may be heightened in our society today because of the internet, IM, and texting. People write lol, ur, l8, stuff like that all the time. We don't even feel like taking the time to write out the ever diminishing words that we have. I for one refuse to write in "newspeak" and always have written out all my texts and IMs in full regular english. I wish we valued language still. It really is beautiful when used well.
